Rest of August 2008

Pictures from August 2008

After that amazing trip that we had, it was really hard to get back into the swing of things.  I just wanted to take the boat back out and take off for good.  Of course we can't do that right now, but I can't wait until we can.  The last couple weeks have been pretty boring for the most part.  The weather hasn't been all that great, so we have just been getting ready for school.  We had some amazing sunsets, though:

Those pictures were all taken from the boat.  And people wonder why we live this way.  The kids have been spending as much time as possible on the docks fishing for whatever they can find.  It seems like the most popular creature for this time of year is the nudibranch:

These creatures are pretty cool.  I didn't even know they existed until Zak informed me what they were last year.  I actually thought he had made up the name, but I was wrong.  Zak knew what he was talking about.  I asked him where he learned about the nudibranchs and he told me it was from the documentary I got for him a couple years ago.  How does he remember this stuff?  I guess those documentaries aren't too bad for the kids.

We also had to say goodbye to some great friends from our dock.  They are leaving for a year and taking their boat to Mexico.  Lucky people!  I'm pretty jealous.  Here's us saying goodbye to Hawkwind (KC, Elaine, Bailey, and Abby) and them cutting the lines free:

Bye guys!  We'll miss you and be safe!

Finally, we had my parents come over for a visit during Labor Day weekend.  It was so great seeing them and we had a great time.  We were able to get the boat out on Saturday and headed for Blake Island.  My Dad's cousin and family came with us, as well.

It was a great day hanging out at Blake Island.  We were able to walk around a bit and do some beachcombing.  The kids enjoyed playing on the beach and getting completely soaked.

We headed home right after lunch and decided to show my parents what our life is really like.  We invited all our friends over and had a dock party.  The weather was really nice and we all had a great time.  Mom and Dad took the kids both nights they were here, so Scott and I enjoyed a little time alone, too!    It was a great weekend.  Now it's time to get ready for school.  I can't believe the summer is already over.
