Roche Harbor
We headed out of Sidney Spit pretty early and headed to Roche Harbor. It was a pretty uneventful trip and we arrived into Roche around 8:30 a.m. After clearing customs we anchored Ghost out in the harbor. We headed to town to get some food for a dinner party we were having aboard Ghost that night. We had invited our friends Darren and Lisa over for dinner. After getting back to Ghost we received a call from our friends Bob, Shari, Sydney, Annie & Tabor on Pearl and they were headed into Roche Harbor to meet us. Excellent, the dinner party had just grown a bit. As we were waiting for Pearl to show up we saw a boat come in with a Lats and Atts Burgee flying, so we introduced ourselves and told them to come on over later for some drinks aboard Ghost. More to add to the party! It ended up being a fabulous evening. We even made some new friends, Greg & Brenda.
The next day we decided to just relax and hang out in Roche Harbor. There is a great playground for the kids to play on:
Scott and the kids went fishing, and the boys decided to some dinghy sailing:

Reid Harbor
The next day we were ready to head over to Reid Harbor. All the kids decided to ride aboard Ghost for the short trip over:
With a little planning Pearl was able to get a spot at the floating dock and Ghost rafted up to Pearl:
It sure is nice being at the dock when you have kids. The kids had so much fun fishing from the dock and later swimming. The dock was full of other kids, as well, so they all had a great time together. After dinner we decided to take a walk to the schoolhouse so the kids could get some energy out. We were sitting by the swings when we heard some rustling in the trees. Pretty soon a deer came running out of the woods and stopped:
And then he took off running again. It was like he just stopped so we could take a picture. We headed back to the boat and went to bed. The next morning we decided to take a hike to the lighthouse. The kids did great! On the way they always make up stories about the old car along the way:
Once at the lighthouse, we all sat down for a little lunch and the kids decided to write secret things in Annie's diary. They wouldn't let us see, so I'm a little curious what they were writing:
I was able to hang out with my buddy Tabor for a little while, so Bob and Shari could check out the museum:
When we returned to the boats there was a note from CB & Tawn (Palarran). They were anchored in the harbor. We couldn't wait to hear how the rest of their trip in Canada was and decided to have a big dinner on the dock that night.
The next morning we decided to go fishing. The four of us headed out in the dinghy and met up with CB, who wanted to go, as well. We didn't catch much, but still had fun. Zak caught his first lingcod:
He was so excited. It wasn't season, so we couldn't keep it, but it was still fun. We headed back to the boat and spent some time at the beach. We had another big dinner at the dock and then prepared for the crossing for the next morning. We were all heading across the Straits of Juan de Fuca to Port Townsend for the Latitudes and Attitudes Pacific Northwest Cruiser's Party.
